Nuggets Defense Puts a Stop To the 76ers Offense.

Allen Iverson's return wasn't bad: 11 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds, but the 76ers lost to the Nuggets 93 -83. The first half was definitely stifling for the Denver offense. Carmelo Anthony held to 14 points, ending his 20 game, 20+ streak. Bummer.

HOWEVER! Chauncey Billups  scored huge for the Nugs, 31 points, and Ty Lawson had 12 very, very important 4th quarter buckets in which he took on the big men, scored, and did NOT get the foul. Lawson also put a nice block down on Allen Iverson, who had 11 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds.

Despite a dislocated finger, Kenyon Martin came back into the game and provided some big 4th quarter rebounds and paint presence.

The Philadelphia squad looked good but you've got to blame Eddie Jordan for NOT playing Thaddeus Young more (21 points), heck, leave him in the entire game if you wanted to win. Samuel Dalembert had an awesome game with 8 points, 15 rebounds, and 6 blocks, and Andre Iguodala scored 31 points. Why didn't Jordan leave them in, even if it risked fouling out, you're on a 9 game skid. Well, make it 10.

One more thing, Willie Green, Dalembert, Thaddeus, Iguodala and Brand make a scary starting unit. Let Iverson start but then put him on the bench. He's a great exclamation point to the team but shouldn't start.

The Nuggets have beaten the Spurs and the 76ers on the road, so the haters need to quiet down about their abilities on the road.

Denver's defense came through huge in the second half. Props to Chris Andersen, Nene, Lawson and Billups for their huge defensive rebounds which accounted for 30 out of 41 on the night.

Allen Iverson Returns to Philly... Nuggets Win.

Monday marks the return of the Answer, Allen Iverson to not only the NBA but also Philadelphia! It's where Iverson thrived and will thrive.
The 76ers should make a good matchup for the Nuggets even though there will undoubtedly be adjustment issues to Iverson.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Ty Lawson guard AI simply because of the matchup in speed. Maybe Chauncey Billups depending on whether or not AI COMES OFF THE BENCH?

Philly's loss to the Bobcats is their 9th in a row including one to the Nets?!! Yikes, however, Willie Green played a great offensive game tonight with 26 points, Andre Iguodala had a double-double as did the promising Thaddeus Young. Elton Brand is obviously worth a mention too.

So, Carmelo Anthony will likely be guarded by Thaddeus, which will be an exciting matchup, but Kenyon Martin should be a perfect stop for Thaddeus. Samuel Dalembert shouldn't be too tough for Nene to score upon although, Dalembert has been averaging almost 2 blocks per game.

Can the 76ers beat the Nuggets? No. Denver has had a day off to recoup while Philly plays back-to-back against the strongest 20 start team the Nuggets have ever been(15-5). Props to a young Philadelphian team that will play a tough game and lose.

I'm not sure anybody has figured out how to guard against the depth of J.R. Smith's 3-pointer or Gilbert Arenas for that matter.

Carmelo scored 34 on the Spurs in San Antonio after being named Player of the Month. This honor hasn't been bestowed on a Denver player since Fat Lever in 1988. Chris Andersen has reestablished his health and presence in the paint. Nene has the prettiest jump hook and softest hands since entering the NBA.

The Nuggets get through the Nets.

The Denver Nuggets beat the New Jersey Nets tonight 101-87. The Nets have not won a game yet this season so where's Allen Iverson? Isn't anybody wondering what a duo of "Skip To My Lou" Rafer Alston and Iverson might do together? Chris Douglas-Roberts had everyone asking how he has averaged 27.3 over the previous three games? Not tonight, and now that opponents are game planning against him he shouldn't score more than tonight's 4 points. So, there's room for a point guard! Enter A.I. Look across the river and forget about the New York Knicks.

The Nugs looked great tonight despite their goofy opponents. For example, Nene scored 17 points but was defended by corny corn rowed Josh Boone and rookie Brook Lopez. Nene has been dunking with more power than ever but his ambidextrous hook shot is getting scary.

J.R. Smith looks excited every time he touches the basketball and dropped 13 points without relying heavily on his three point shot having only attempted two.

Carmelo Anthony is excellent and proves to be climbing into new echelons every night. As the point per game leader in the NBA you'd expect to see him driving the lane or making full court triple team lay-ups against teams where he doesn't have to utilize his jump shot. He scored 27 points.

As for Aaron Afflalo, George Karl obviously has acquired a major improvement to Dahtay Jones. Wow, Afflalo scored 15 points and has been averaging a little over eight ppg. His defense has been solid and his three pointer has been as reliable as Linus Kleiza's ever was.

To recap, this Nets team is terrible but put on a clinic tough enough to highlight the Nuggets strengths.

Props to Chris "Birdman" Andersen and Joey Graham and Kenyon Martin for good games without major mentionable stats.

Go Nuggets.
